Nevada has lost access to $156 million in community solar funding following President Donald Trump’s Jan. 20 executive order, “Unleashing American Energy.” The order halts federal energy grants under the Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Act, freezing funds previously allocated to the Nevada Clean Energy Fund for low-income solar projects.
The Solar for All program, designed to lower energy costs for over 20,000 disadvantaged households, was expected to finance 125 community solar projects and create nearly 1,000 jobs statewide. Grant recipients nationwide, including Nevada, were cut off from the EPA’s funding portal Wednesday, according to E&E News.

Renewable energy advocates are raising concerns over the funding freeze, arguing that it could impact energy affordability for low-income families. Some organizations are exploring legal challenges to reinstate the funds. Meanwhile, Governor Joe Lombardo’s office has not yet provided a statement regarding Nevada’s funding status.
